September 29, 2015

Well not really sure what to write about... Its like groundhog day!!! Every day i wake up in the same bed. the proceed with the exact same schedule as the day before. but some things were different i guess! We got to watch Elder Scotts funeral yesterday which was pretty cool. And all the french missionaries who have been here longer than us left within the last 24 hours so now my district along with 2 others are the oldest. over the weekend i had a cool experience. usually we teach every day but with church, rotations, teachers being busy and just stuff we ended up not teaching for about 3 days. Then yesterday we got to teach again and it was amazing!!! I could speak twice as well as I could before. I was astonished. Sunday was also my favorite Sunday of all. The topic was faith. I learned so much and I'd like to share a few insights I had. First of all  I read Elder Hollands talk "Lord, I believe" then me and my coteacher studied faith for a bit. Charity is the most sought after gift. But obviously obtaining it isn't very easy. In 1 Peter 1:3-8 I learned that faith is the foundation upon with we can add numerous qualities from which charity is a natural and desired offspring. Another cool insight came from reading the BD. It states Where there is true faith there are miracles, visions, dreams, healings, and all the gifts of God that He gives to His saints. Normally I would interpret that as saying that if we have faith we can obtain those things. But I would have been so wrong. When we have true faith we ALWAYS receive those things. and not only that but it is not a this or that. We will obtain each and every one

September 22, 2015

I've had some really amazing teaching experiences here. Teaching in French is tough. Especially during the first week when all we could do was bear a simple testimony and say a simple prayer. But improvement happens little by little. I have made a few errors that were kind of embarrassing. I asked our investigator to say our closing prayer on our cake. But everything's progressing slowly but surely. We have committed one of our investigators to baptism. His daughter died a while back and Guillaume prayed for a week with faith and she still died. The next lesson we showed him the Mountains To Climb Mormon Message in French then I shared my testimony of my family and showed him a picture and explained how I was teaching him because I love them and want him to be able to be with his family too. Then someone else shared their experience of their Gpa passing away and after all that he prayed for us. Half the people present were in tears. My companion was named Elder Crapo. He was a solo Elder because he was the only french speaking male to come in when he did. He left 2 days ago which was sad. But he is serving in Barbados now and I'm sure he is doing amazing!!!

Alli, my companion leaves for the Bridgetwon Barbados mission on Sunday!!! It's in the Carabean and he's way excited.  Do you ever go and play ultimate with anyone? Do you want to here a funny story? :) I was in with my companion teaching a less active and her husband was out of work and husband is "le mari" and the entire lesson I thought that she had a daughter named Marie that was looking for work and I never figured it out until after the lesson which was pretty embarrassing. We have the best teacher here. He pushes us really hard and loves to close doors in our faces but he opens it after a couple tries.

Sorry, I ran out of time right then. There's not much to tell. Every day is the same routine. I have enjoyed the accelerated rate of learning for everyone here. Its spanned beyond just my French but my memory of scriptures is aided just as dramatically. Here's a funny story. I was in with my companion teaching a less active and her husband was out of work and husband is "le mari" and the entire lesson I thought that she had a daughter named Marie that was looking for work and I never figured it out until after the lesson which was pretty embarrassing. I'm still having a blast here and miss everyone a bunch. If you have any questions let me know!
Thanks so much for the rolls! They were really good and everyone loved them.  Also is there anyway you could find some sheet music for "homeward bound" for the piano? I havent had a chance to play yet but I have the oppurtunity on my pdays. Ultimate is banned so I haven't played any, just volleyball, which is way fun! There are some really good people here.

Well, French is pretty easy. My schedule doesn't contain enough physical activity, so every door I walk through I hang from the doorknob for a little bit.  My companion is awesome and so is my district. Honestly nothing is super hard.. yet. I LOVE learning French.  We've only really taught 3 lessons cause we're all bad at speaking, but its coming along so fast! The gift of tongues is real. I've seen Ryker a couple times! Oh by the way my mailing address is

Letters are actually easier and I can read them sooner. So ya pretty much I love it here and French is super fun :) My P-day is on Tuesday, if you didn’t figure that out.  I'll usually write for 30 min in the morning then 30 in the afternoon.  The food is good. Im not really sure what else to say. Oh we listened to a talk by Elder Bednar on Sunday which was amazing and we were all humbled and edified and inspired all at the same time. There was one elder who during one of our lessons he learned our investigator had a wife and responded with "trés beau" which means very beautiful. However that the masculine version of beautiful and that really means very handsome. we all had a laugh about that. So ya, we went to the temple and the spirit is strong. Miss you all!

I'm supposed to tell you I'm doing okay. It's fun and I'm having a blast. French is pretty easy though I wish it was one on one so I could pick my pace. Everyone here is really cool.
